Thanks for the help...
I've run several posts in this forum the past week or so, since my motor got sick. I figured this to be the best way to thank y'all, as opposed to going back to each thread.
Sure enough, the problem was a blow thru in the head gasket of my 289 between #'s 3 & 4. I got the heads rebuilt while I had them off, adjusted the valves and rebuilt her carb.
She's back to rumbling the glass packs.
