I always thought it would be so great to have a iPad type integration into the dash that would be dedicated to the truck. With the appropriate apps you could control and monitor every aspect of the truck with a totally customizable application. The GPS nav and weather updates would be great as long as you had a 3G connection. I guess that is where you could have a backup using the old system. But the possibilities would only be limited by your imagination. Makes the small information center located on the new trucks look like an abacus compared to a super computer today.

You know, you really need to streamline your process and patent your integration and you would have a serious money maker on your hands. I know people including myself who would pay big buck for an option like that. Especially if it was a do it yourself installation. Who knows if Ford motor co. took a look at that and decided to offer it as an option you and your family would be set for life!

I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread when we got a USB port to connect my iPhone to the truck, couldn't imagine the possibilities if an iPad was integrated into the operation of the truck.

Possible integration ideas: GPS, NAV, backup camera, movies, music, truck system monitoring and control, climate controls, performance tuning, blue tooth integration.

I remember when a pull out radio was the ultimate in security. It was a little too bulky and led to the removable radio faceplate. That was great for radio security but could you imagine if your iPad was integrated to your truck system and computer. You could disable your entire truck's electronics by taking your iPad with you.

Great job making your ideas a reality!! Keep us posted on any updates!

thank you for the praise... it makes my week and a half worth of work seem worth it...
i tried really hard, and made my dream a reality!!!! and having the iPad in the dash is the coolest thing in the world!!! i use it for the web, weather, gps, dash command (obd 2 control / programming) traffic, video chat, music videos and movies... etc etc... everything the iPad is supposed to do and more.... i can't wait till the have bluetooth cameras that i can use as my front/side/and rear view cams, and face recognition so it picks me out when i get in my driver seat and for sct or bully dog to come out with an app.... oh and heater control.... then i can get rid of the dials and clean up the dash more...

once again... thank you all... it means more than you can imagine!!!



and hey Jim... i still have my pull out blaupunkt!!!! i bring it out on eighties night as part of my costume!!! so sweet!!!!! ill take a pic of it beside the iDash for you!!! old and new!!!
