(found a) 1950s Dodge p/u bed on my 48 F1 ??(have pics)
Guys, a few weeks ago I was a junk yard and found a 1950s Dodge pickup truck, Anyways at first I was thinking the bed was a Ford, but just had diffident back fenders... But just today on here I found an old post of a 1952 Ford that looks like someone put a Dodge bed(Looks also the same style as the one I found.. Since my truck needs new running boards anyways.. I was thinking maybe if I could get it to work I'd line up the running boards the best I could with the bottoms of the back fenders..
Like my grandpa always said, your damned if you do or your damned if you don't haha.. Junk Yard is asking $125 for the whole bed, and tailgate and fenders...

(P.S from what I found on google the box style is from the Dodge B1 pickup looks like this box style started in 1948)
Heres a great photo of the B1 P/U

Here's a few photos of the truck I found....
the box is in good shape and had a full wood as a bed liner which was gone, but wood working is my thing is it should be easy to fix..
But heres the photo I found on here.. I'm 100% the box on this truck is the same as I found in the junk yard..
you guys think its wroth my time ??

The stake pockets and bed sides dont really match between the truck you found and the pic of the other. You sure they are the same? Maybe because one is a long box and the other is a short box?
As for using a Dodge bed, that's up to you. It's your truck. I personally like the looks of the Ford beds much better. They make good looking trailers too...lol.

There was a similar looking Dodge bed on my 48 F-3 when I bought it. It was about 7 Feet long and I could have used it by cutting off a little of the F-3 rear overhang but getting Ford fenders and running boards to fit would have been a bear. Save your money for the right bed and you won't be sorry...

I would suggest not wasting your money there and concentrate on the important parts of your build; getting it running and dependable. A good parts truck that has a more complete -and correct- body will come along. If you spend all your money buying wrong parts, you won't have the money to take advantage of a good deal on the right stuff when it comes.
