going to start modding the x soon and am in the process of ordering new bumpers from buckstop.will also be adding a winch in the front bumper.
i will start upgrading the springs soon as the bumper is a 4-5 week wait. i'm guessing that the v's may not be quite enough with the added weight of the bumper and winch.
anyone running a aftermarket bumper and winch with v codes?are you happy
thanks
pete
The stock EX bumper is pretty light so adding a big beefy bumper and winch would most likely bring V's back down to stock EX height. The X codes were designed to go on F-250/350 trucks with snowplows, X's should provide the extra muscle for your frontend upgrades and still give some extra travel to your bumpstops.
Be sure to post pics of the upgrades when they happen!
I have a Ranch Hand on the front, and X code front springs. I love the combination, I can go over those big smooth speed bumps at speed, and it doesnt bottom out, which is nice. It doesnt ride rough at all to me. I dont have a winch on the front, but.... I am going to add the RAS to the rear to raise it a little and help with towing. If I were you, with what you want to add to the front, I would definitely go with X codes. Bought mine used from a junkyard, for $150, they had about 85k on them I believe.
I gained 1.75 inch height with the V codes. My buckstop bumper and winch only caused a loss of a quarter inch.
I have had no issues with ride or handling with the V code and Buckstop combination.
