I have a 1990 F150 and I need to find a axl nut socket a book that I have told me that I need to use this tool: d85t-1197-A. Where can I buy it.

Auto or manual hubs? If auto, 3 bolt or 5 bolt. Most of the time you just need a standard 4-prong locknut spanner:

See my thread a little ways down and look for "Dana 50 or 60 hub nut tool" i posted this same thread and everyone told me I needed a 4 pronged socket to get mine off, not the case, mine (possibly like yours) looks like a round disk with 6 flats ground in it. I searched snapon.com and found one like I needed. They don't list the conversion part number so you will have to try and find a way to measure the diameter of the nut. Good luck.
Yes the secure ring comes out independently, and the set of holes are only to put the secure ring, this set of holes are located at the neck of the nut. And yes behind the secure ring the neck of the nut has a complete circumference of holes.
Hey guys, could sound incredible but I asked to mechanic of my town how could I screw this nut and he told me that with a screw and wood hammer, putting the screw in one hole of the nut and applying a little hit with the wood hammer the nut will go out, because this kind of nut are not supposed to be strong tight. And that’s right with a little pressure the nut goes out. Now I think is not necessary to buy this socket.
It holds the hub and wheel bearings in. I think I will torque mine down pretty good. I am ordering bothe the specialty ones for Ford trucks, the IFS 50 and Dana 60, as well as the funky rear one with the the center tube. Only $31, cheap insurance to make sure my wheels don't fall off!
There are 2 types of sockets available and I got the wrong one first so ended buying the second one and returning the first. The first one had the "****" on the inside of the socket and the second one the "****" were on the rim. I have the "ratcheting" or self locking type of nuts on my'93. It once had auto hubs but were replaced with Warn Premium hubs. The socket with the inside"****" would not work with the racheting style lock nuts. The one I have now is an Ultra Pro 62816 bought at NAPA. I think it will work on most 4x4 front hubs.
My neighbor had this same problem with an older f350 of his. He searched all around and ended up finding the right socket at a heavy duty truck shop. And i am talking about the big rigs, not some 4x4 shop. You have to have the right socket, it looks like the corners are rounded off a little. And it is torqued pretty tight, so that wooden hammer trick that other guy told you is way off.
