So I was in construction for about 10 years, and I used to be into car audio also but I always found that dynamat was way to expensive for me to line my car with. Then I found this seal and peal aluminum roll roofing at a ABC Supply, but have found it at other stores. The only difference that I've noticed was the aluminum was a little thinner but otherwise its about the same stuff. I was just wondering if any of you guys ever used it. It's about $150 for 100 sqft. well thats cool that im not the only one thinking of this. I think when I pick up my 76 Im going to pull the interior and panels and line it all. I may upgrade the speakers and possibly put in a 10in orion. Depending on how the rug looks I may replace that also. I mind as well line my car and van lol.
I used the thick non faced Home Depot version of peel and seal then I went to lowes and got the generic peel and seal thats extra wide and used that as the top layer. The total thickness is over 1/8'' thick. I am very happy with it and if done right it looks like a clean job! Its even in my 2011 F150!

I've read some places that it gives off an asphalt smell when it gets hot in the truck in the summer. Is that true? I was thinking about doing this in mine, but was torn between this and the fat mat from ebay.
yeah I read that too but also read that it goes away. I think one of the differences between the two is that dynamat uses a rubber adhesive where as the roofing stuff uses a tar type.
I got Fatmat direct from their site, told them i saw it on ebay they sold me 100sq ft with knife and wood roller for $129. shipped. Install is simple and it works well. 100sq. is enough to do a standard cab with plenty left.
I did complete floor, kick panels, behind seat up to window (carpeted) under headliner and doors twice(one layer on door skin and one under door panel)
Save yourself a headache and when doing roof and door skins cut into 5" strips! It sticks really well to itself.
I used edead. Its about the same price a fatmat. Dynamat is a ripoff you pretty much are paying for the name. Most guys I see use fatmat. I wouldnt use any of that stuff from lowes or home depot. If its for roofing I would think it would contain tar, probably why it releases a odor. Fatmat is a rubberized compound with an adhesive backing. Buying cheap alternatives from hardware stores sometimes isnt the best thing to do, not that it wouldnt work.
