well i finally got my luk clutch and smf...still havent looked at my flywheel hope its right lol. my quest for more grunt and no engine mods is getting longer and longer. so now i haveto ask for some help. does anyone know who sells any tranny to tranny adapters. i was in the middle of a 5 speed swap and realized that overdrive is pointless with this truck so i found a t-19 but i wanna be able to rip my truck in half at an idle so ineed way lower gears. low and behold i have a perfectly good NP-435 with an NP205 transfercase. thatll give me16 speeds of all the low torque i want and now i have a real reason to do the front axle swap. i checked advanced adapters and did a quick search here didnt c anything to do with tranny doubling. any info and ideas are helpful. and im sold on the dual tranies if i can doit cheap it might even c dual 205 transfer cases. firm believer of lettin the clutch out, gettin out, lettin the dog out, checkin the mail, kisssin the ole' lady goodbye, and the truck still isnt at the end of a 10 ft driveway
I will say this, with the cost of your idea, i would get a gearvenders overdrive....if you do that...your T-19 and BW1356 can be used....instead of doing a NP435 and 205 Tranny and Case....
you better get good at shiftin two sticks; they didnt call tohse old semis with amain + aux suicicide shifts for nothin..lol. i am kind of interested in your idea though, im not so sure how the ratios will work out in the end, and how you plan on routing the shifters. you can build a NP 203/205 doubbler T case. never seen one for a ford though. we built one for my buddys Chevy, and were building one for my ol Solid Axle Chevy
Well the old twin sticks were UN-synchronized transmissions. With the exception of first in the NP, both his are sychonized. That should help a bunch with shifting. That is if you can figure out the shifter for the second trans...
Sounds like an awesome idea though, and you're probably going to have to make the trans to trans adapter...
the extra trannies will mostly be back up. with the auxiliars in direct the t-19 will b shifted normally. anywhere the t-19 isnt low enough my np435 will b shifted from 4th to 3rd giving me the extra grunt. should i ever need 2nd the video WILL b posted on youtube and with any luck ill put a whole new meaning to mobile home. ill post pics, and my t-19 is the 2wd with 1 ton e brake. im gonna route the second shifter almost like the transfer case shifter and the first 205 will b installed backward for an overdrive while the second 205 remains the same for 4wd and low. the 205s will both reciev a twin stick setup so im able to run a pto. im gonna draw it up and go from there. picture soon hopefully. might be using an auxilary oil pump so im not burning up my transfer cases. also just relized that my clutch is now usless being i sold my zf 5 to fund this master piece. o ya and im shooting for a total of three crossmembers for this. but im seeing six lol. ill keep uns posted. o ya and when im in R-R-D-L my gear ratio is 108.308:1 i think i found granny gear from hell
Educate me..I don't understand? Why would you want or need two transmissions? Why not slap and 18 speed in there? That is like 3 transmissions in one! Seriously what is the benefit, purpose? I am trying to figure out just how in the hell you can even put two transmissions in line. Is there going to be a transmission hump in the bed?
ok. first of all. main rule of pre-engineered modification engineering is anything is possible with a junkyard wrench. other main rules include bring ur own beer and stay away from each others ole' lady but thats for another time. if u have a mig welder and a machine shop ur beyond PEME and ud better know how to use it. i unfortunatly have none but my friends do. in order to run 2 trannies in line u simply take a piece of round stock safley a 1/4 inch more than the larger shaft rather it be the input of the second tranny or the output of the first. it should be the length of total splined shaft material and add 1/4 inch for good measure. so thats the length of the splined output shaft +length of splined input shaft +1/4". have it center bored for thr pilot on ur input shaft. then internally splined for ur input and output shaft. trannies willalso have to be bolted together. im going to use a 1/4 plate and have the center drilled oout so the plate is square agianst the mounting surface. one for the tail of my t-19 and one for the front of my np435. then once ive drilled the bolt holes for the mounting surface ill install my interally splined shaft till its snug. ill measure the distance between the two plates and have a large peic of pipe welded in, basically the same idea as the piece between the tranny and transfer case on the older trucks. i havent solved my tcase overdrive problem yet, so b4 i design my method of bolting the transfer cases head to head i need to research and see if the 205 can run in low at high rpms. might end up using the auto radiator and a heavy oil and pump it through my t-cases. o and i want to do this becuase i havent found anyone who has and who better to do it than some 18 year oldkid with big ideas. and please refrain from talking me down i biught my truck and i work very hard for it. this truck is a 2wd auto. i blew the auto and decided on a 5 speed swap. then i found a 4 speed then i found another four speed. its my baby and she needs to hold her own. 68 forward speeds and 4wd will do it.
i found a guy in the 57-60 fords who is using a divorced np-205 gear box for overdrive no problems so far. mayb boltan np203 ger box on backward to my 205
