FICM

2005 F-250

i believe my ficm is going bad or has already gone bad

truck is showing 9 codes

the first 8 codes are showing all cylinder injector circuits low

the other is P0611 i believe it means the ficm is bad

would it be cheaper for me to get the ficm rebuilt and if so where is the best and cheapest place to send it.

bullet proof diesel will do it for around 300, is that a good price and a good place to send it or does anyone know of a better place

thanks

i agree^^^. ed is great. i wouldnt think twice about sending it to him to get it rebuilt. he does great work and stands behind it. cant go wrong there. have ur batteries load tested individually and ur alternator too. make sure they are 100%. bad ones will kill the ficm and the ficm isnt cheap. if they are bad, have them both replaced with 850cca's or better.

on the website he has 3 different rebuilds you can buy

1 is 195$ and has a 45 day warrranty

2 is the same repair with a one year warranty for 225$

3 he uses better parts with a 3 yr warranty for 325$

trying to decide which would be the best to choose, im thinking the one with the 1 yr warranty but not sure

You guys are awesome.

You've pretty much summed up the differences between the various repair choices. Most of our business is from people looking to hang onto their truck indefinitely. As such, they opt for the best bang for the buck if they can swing it, which really is the two year service.

This is not say that there is anything wrong with the service associated with the 45 day or one year offering, but the vast majority of our business that asks for that is from car lots.

Hope this helps!

Just because your paranoid doesn't mean people aren't after you, right?

Seriously, though, the answer to your question is 'yes'.

There are precisely two kinds of FICM's: those that have failed and those that will.

It's a sad little 6.0 reality.

X2 on sending it to Ed. I had mine done several weeks ago and so far, so good. Great service and support. Shipped it out USPS on a Wednesday and had it at my doorstep following Monday. Thanks Ed!

Going to send mine to Ed as soon as he gets the new modules for the $325 service. I fall into that category of being proactive vice reactive.

Did you notice any difference in starting, performance and or MPG?

I just got mine back from Ed on Friday. Starts up and runs much better now. I also did just throw in 2 new batteries and a new DC Power alternator, so those help too haha.

I was previously getting I believe an injector 8 contribution/balance code but that is gone now with the newly repaired FICM.

I just mailed my FICM off to Ed yesterday. I also opted for the 2 year warranty with the upgraded parts. It's a smart move if you plan on having the vehicle for a long time. $325 is well worth it when you compare it to an OEM replacement that is $700+ which doesn't include programming it to your vehicle, which can be $125+. Plus the Ford OEM replacement still has the same inherent problems as the previous one.
