460 cam issues

I have a '93 f350 5 speed with a 460 that i just put a comp cam rv (part #34-255-5) as my old one lost a couple lobes..

I go the cam broke in for 30 minutes or longer yesterday with no problem, but today it just wants to bog out and run rich. has a rough idle and doesnt make any difference to adjust the distributor.

I checked and couldnt find any vaccumn leaks or coolant in the oil.

I was told by comp cams that mine should have a speed density computer in my truck(cab/chassis version xlt) and that cam will work perfectly.

Is there anyway to tell what kind of computer that i do have?

It should be speed density unless you, or someone else, installed a MAF system.

then it says dual rear wheel only.

If you did not use sensor compatible RTV sealant you most likely damaged the O2 Sensor.

Unplug it and see how it runs Open-Loop.

From what I was told when having an EFI 460(91 speed density) rebuilt, if you change cams & loose even a little vacuum, the computer will act as if you are accelerating, thereby dumping excess fuel through the injectors. MPG drops way on down, it runs like crap, etc.

i did unplug the o2 sensor and it still wants to run rich. i will idle fairly easily, but when you rev it up it wants to bog/choke out pretty bad.

If it's stock, you have the speed density system.

I read somewhere recently that the only MAF 460s were 96/97 California only. Don't know how accurate that is.

hey guys, heres a video of what the motor is doing. It is still running very rough and rich. I have changed the map sensor, throttle, egr,air bypass, etc.. and it still does the same thing. GOPR147422.MP4 - YouTube

Try a vacuum gauge & see if it's in the required range.

Are you sure you have all the plug wires correct, and that the cam did not change the firing order? Try unplugging the MAP sensor in the mean time. The computer will start guessing fueling based on throttle position and RPM. This will eliminate the vacuum aspects of things (at least as far as the injection is concerned)

The "cam" did not change the firing order.

Unhooking the vacuum line or electrical connection? It shouldn't cut out disconnecting the electrical connection.
