Manual Regen?

I have a 2011 F350,,,,Most of my trips are less than 15 miles and I notice frequent attempts at a regen but I soon reach my destination. I did take my first trip which was about 1000 miles (poor mileage 17mpg, disappointing) and only had 1 regen. Is there a way to manually initiate a regen?

They can be with a service computer hooked up to the OBD.
The process can be done at a standstill.

Operator Controlled- option?

I see an operator controlled reg as an item on the new truck options list. What is it? I would think they could do that with a software update on existing trucks or a new one.

Found this for the 2011, same as 2012-----not sure if I have this option,,,but will check it out tomorrow!

Note: OCR will not be allowed to operate if the service engine soon
light is illuminated
Note: During the use of OCR, you may observe a light amount of white smoke. This is normal.
1. Start with the vehicle engine fully warmed.
2. Press the Info button on the steering wheel until the message center
reads EXHAUST FILTER XXX% FULL.
3. If the DPF needs cleaning and the vehicle is warmed up, a message requesting permission to initiate filter cleaning is displayed EXH XXX% FULL CLEAN Y/N. Answering yes to this prompt and then following prompts will initiate OCR. Be sure to understand each prompt. If you are not sure what is being asked by each prompt, contact your authorized dealer.4. Once OCR starts, the engine’s rpm will rise to approximately 2,000 - 2,400 rpm and the cooling fan will increase speed; you will hear a change in audible sound due to the fan and engine speed increase.
It is not necessary to open the hood on the engine compartment. Once OCR is complete, the engine rpm and fan will return to normal idling. The exhaust system will remain very hot for several minutes even after regeneration is complete. Do not reposition the vehicle over materials that could burn until the exhaust system has had sufficient time to cool. Depending on the amount of soot collected by the DPF, ambient temperature, and altitude, OCR may last from 10 to 25 minutes.
Note: During stationary PTO operation, OCR will change the engine speed to 2,000 or 2,400 rpm (depending on vehicle application), therefore it is recommended you exit PTO mode before starting OCR. During mobile PTO use, OCR is not necessary; regeneration will function normally.

That's for cab and chassis only and I think that's even limited to the XL and XLT.

How long does a regen take?

Most of my drives are about half an hour to and from work. How long does a regen take from cold truck to done?

I have noticed a regen will not start until the oil is above 150 degrees.
So, however long it takes to get to 150 (that's assuming the DPF is at 2.66 or higher soot GPL to force it to begin) and then it runs for 10-15 minutes (haven't timed a full process yet).
Seems more like 15 minutes for the regen process plus another 5 minutes of the DPF being so hot that it continues to burn off soot.

2015 F250 Xlt

Hi All -

Im sure this has been addressed before. I have the F250 6.7 XLT. I drive about about an hour each to (30 minutes each way) to and from work. I've been having a by weekly regen where I do my part and drive the extra time till its cleaned out. I'd like to learn to do the Manual Regen or "Static" Regen but I'm not sure you can do it on the XLTs? Do you have to have a computer to do so? Any help would be great.

Any of the 6.7's can do a stationary/manual/forced regen. Some of the XL and XLT's came with the standard dash and could do the OCR (operated commanded regen). It was a $250 option to add this feature when the truck was ordered. Now, you can use FORScan or a monitor/programmer to do the stationary/manual/forced regen. I can use my Edge CTS2 to do this. The CTS will do it also. Or with FORSCan on a laptop and the extended license vis an OBDII adapter, you can do the stationary/manual/forced regen.

Thanks @Just Strokin , yea I dont believe mine has the OCR command, I've scrolled through the commands a few times while the filter was full and not fill. I'll have to look into one of the programmers. Would you recommend the Edge CTS2 and if so which one? I've seen a couple different (with different prices), thats why I ask.
