Well i wont lie i was into it pretty hard on the 100hp setting heard a screach and a pop and started to smoke a lot! I got the truck home and oil is running out of the tailpipe... SOOO i am asking the brotherhood what do i do try to rebuild it IE new housing and wheel or buy a used van turbo... before you ask no i have not pulled it to look at the damage yet. Its still hot lol... The down side not a lot of funds avalible right now the up side i was looking at doing injectors and have not bought anything yet may go with stage 2 now if i upgrade the air...
You can get parts pretty cheap to rebuild it. You may find that when you take it apart it could just be a $100 rebuild. It parts are damaged it could go higher obviously. Maybe it is just a seal or something. With the screech sound it will most likely be more!

well Ken it doesn't sound good for the turbo. The "screach and a pop" very bad. To start with what year is your truck ? And if you have cash for stage 2 injectors you have enough money to fix your turbo the right way. Which sounds like alot of parts or a rebuilt one. And just put the injectors on hold for now. It doesn't sound like you are lacking in power if you were able to blow the turbo into pieces.
Good Luck with the repairs and sorry to hear your turbo went south on you.
The truck is a 01 crewcab single wheel. so far all i have done is chip it i have replaced the hpop prior to my introduction to the brotherhood i went with a stock bosch reman for about the cost of a t500 oh well. oh yeah and i rebuilt the locker in the rear end.

Ken do you have gauges? And what kind of chip? And since it is a 01 you could just bolt up a 38r to your set up. Did you get a chance to look at the turbo yet.
no gagues as of yet the turbo in my truck has Garret stamped on the side of it... is that a stock turbo? and no i have not yet pulled it. Its about 31 out right now and i have no garage to work in... the old shade tree does not do much to keep your hands from freezing.
Sounds to me like the turbo locked up in which case it is a pretty good bet the shaft is junked. Doesn't cost anything to open it up and check it out though but like you mentioned I would be on the lookout for a new used turbo.
Another option if your turbo is shot(which it sounds like) is a turbo from PDR diesel. Check out their web site. I have their Super GTP and i like it. It is rebuildable and a little less than the 38r.
YIKES! No gauges but you're running a chip hot with no upgraded intake or opened up exhaust??? Man, that is super bad mojo. You're going to continue to run into problems like blowing your turbo if you don't follow the advice you'll find here and on other sites. Meaning, your "power modifications" should sort of go in an order pretty much like this:
1) Open up intake
2) Open up exhaust (either 4" or stock with a straight-through muffler like a Walker BTM)
3) Gauges...must have a pyro gauge
4) Chip
5) HPOP
6) Turbo
7) Injectors
Now, items 5-7 can go in a different order...but they've got to be done after 1-3 have been followed. If you're thinking about putting in injectors without doing 1-3, well, save yourself months of frustration and come throw your money away into MY trash can at my house (at least I will fish it out and put it to good use ). Seriously, you're throwing your money away on injectors and will likely ruin your truck in short order if you don't do 1-3 first.

Exactly how I did 1-5. Now working on #6.
I've never seen that this should be in this order, but this makes the most sense to me
I just got my turbo rebuilt with a wicked wheel for $650. Depending on how many miles are on your truck I would replace your pedestal o-rings and your up pipes. I did on mine because if you have your turbo off you can get to those parts easy. The ford delership close to my house recommended I do that.
