Nice article, Kent. It looks like something I might try over the summer break. Would like a look at yours and clarification of the changes you mentioned in the article next time we roll out of west Texas to visit the grandkids in the DFW area. If this solves the hood mismatch problems and gives quick open access to those leaking 94's, then himmelberg is a happier guy. Again, congrats on the article, well done. himmelberg
great job... good pics and detail... should help a lot of guys go that way for sure... you make it look too easy not too. I can hook you up with some editors if you're interested... it's publishable..

Hey Kenny ???? why would anyone ever want to wander anywhere... everyone knows all the good stuff and cool people are here !!! We got George... We got Fenders.. We got Nathan in his p.j.s !!! We got it all, man !!! although I have to admit the trip to Kent's article was worth it... but it was scary out there and I'm glad to be back
Thanks for all the kind words-I hope that someone can find something useful in the article. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post or e-mail. I will try my best to answer as best I can.
himmelberg-you are welcome anytime! I would be glad to have any of you come take a look at my project-just let me know. I am about 5 minutes from where I-30 and I-20 split on the west side of Fort Worth.
John-your words mean alot, coming from the most prolific F-100 writer in these parts!
I am currently working on the latching mechanism, trying to get the kinks worked out. I may have to submit a supplement to Ken and Kenny when I get it worked out.
Kent, ... Great Stuff !!! Just during my half day at the Del Mar Goodguys event two weeks ago I was thinking of doing this, too. Almost every truck had the reverse tilt. Most of 'em used this $300+ kit from "No Limit" which includes these billet plates. Far too nice for me and my Orange Monster as I have ZERO billet stuff so far.
After seeing your article I will for sure go your route. Even so we have no Home Depots over here. Poor me. But there's similar places called "Bauhaus". ...
Great info! I have refered guys with 61-66's to your article as they are trying to figure out a system for those trucks. The article and photos should get them pointed in the right direction.
I have a friend that makes a kit for this using Buick hinges. He has made some up to take to PF.
Fenders,
I hadn't added things up but it was CHEAP!
~$15 for 20' stick of 1" square tubing
~$4 for the rollers from Home Depot
The rest came from my metal scrap pile-1/4" diameter rod, flat stock, etc. I would guess less than $25 all together.
Kai,
I haven't figured out a way to weld billet, and don't have access to a machine shop, so I don't have much either!
Truckfarmer,
I think the basic concept will work for any hood that is wider at the rear than at the front. It can't be that difficult, I figured it out!
