How about Engine RPM at highway speed with 373 vs 430 gears and MPG for each?
I saw your question about this in the other thread. At 70mph unloaded in 6th, I'm right around 2100 rpm's I believe. I'll confirm it on the way to work this morning. I have the 4.30 gears.
I have a lead foot, right now with the winter blend fuel, I'm getting 9-10mpg's city, 12-13 hwy. I just got back from a 200 mile trip last weekend, with my atv in the back and a couple hundred pounds of gear, I was right around 12.5mpg's. That same trip in the summer would've yielded me another mile or 2 per gallon.
My 2012 Reg Cab F350XL 4x4 with 3.73 gears and E-diff gets on average around 13.5mpg's but I never take it on the highway. Sometimes its in the low 13's othertimes its in the 14's and this is while it is carrying only a tool box with about 250lbs worth of stuff in it. Just around 3,500miles on it and loving every minute. Also, I reset my timer every time I fill up and I am averaging about 15hours of driving per tank. All of this is with winter fuel.
On a sidenote: My 2003 Reg Cab Silverado 1500 5.3 4x4 would average around 15mpg's with the same tool box weight. It would never be able to carry a plow like my F350 nore would it haul my landscaping trailer and equipment and two yards of loam with out dragging the trailer hitch on the ground and looking very unsafe. This F350 is sweet and if it costs me an extra 2mpg's for its capabilities then I am fine with that. I love this thing.
Yes please confirm RPMs at 70 MPH my truck is being built on March 12th

My assumption above was correct, right around 2100rpm unloaded in 6th. I can get you exact numbers if you really need it as my speedometer is off a couple mph's from the factory (tires are factory tires).
I know there have been other posts asking about mpg, but I would like to see some fresh numbers.... I did a search, and maybe I missed some recent posts... But here goes...
I am looking for regular UNLOADED mpg... I am looking at a F-250, 6.2L, Crewcab, 4x4, 8 foot bed, 3:73 gears.... If you have a similar truck, I would like to hear your numbers.
Please list your average mileage and what you estimate the city/hwy ratio is, and do you consider your self a conservative, regular, or lead-foot kinda driving style....
I plan on pulling a travel trailer and have a moonwalk business on the side. We deliver the inflatables on the weekend and summer, but most of my driving is back and forth to work on the Texas Gulf Coast (flat at sea level)
Sorry for beating a dead horse, and thanks for any replies.
I just got back from Indiana, picking up my new toy hauler camper. I got 15.6 on the way out and 7.5-8 on the way back. The wind was terrible(30+ MPH) yesterday afternoon with that big storm that caused all those tornadoes...mileage would've been better if not for that. Camper is a 24' cherokee grey wolf, about 4600lbs. empty.

I don't think it is the weight that brings down the MPG's as much as the aerodynamics of the trailer behind you. The trailer is a large sail and the air does not go over it very well. The only time you would see a decrease in MPG's while towing heavy is during take off, but the TT sits so much higher then the truck that it will kill the mileage, especially in the high winds.

yep, aerodynamics is what it's all about. you can have something twice as heavy on an open trailer and it'll pull way easier than an enclosed trailer. especially in high winds.
I havent posted in a while or read the forum since I bought my 6.2. I have an F350 cab and chassis whith a full skirted bed, it's heavy. I was thinking my milage was really off but after reading the post, I don't feel so bad. I get mid to high 13s and I have 4:30 gears 4x2 15000 miles. Just use it for Pulling camper and a rzr on the back.
I have a new 2012 F-250 4x4 crew cab long wheel base Lariat 6.2 gas with 6000k miles now. Right out of the dealership I was getting good mileage (14 city/19 hwy)till about 4000k miles, it dropped in half. My dealer reflashed the computer with all the current updates. With fairly flat highway & no head wind I am back getting 18.5 avg hwy with 13.5 city. Keep in mind, thats no shotgun starts or hi reving passing, just granny driving and not exceeding 65 mph. Ford computers suffer when they see below 12volt power draws, so I now turn off the fan blower before every start and so far so good. my blower defaults to hi speed before every start, its a very annoying feature. Another thing about the truck is excessive flex in the frame, other than that I am pleased with it.
[quote=fz1dave;12002035]Never heard of that. It would be annoying to say the least.
I think he's talking about every time he starts the truck? Sounds like he's got auto climate control and it's trying to cool down/heat up to whatever temp he has it set at. (they try to do this as quickly as possible...hence the high speed fan) not sure, but you may be able to turn that off? Mine doesn't have all that fancy stuff.
