You can't base your experience off a guy who started the swap by using a plasma cutter on his truck. Its the type of think you should start having a complete donor in hand and doing a lot of careful measuring. If you don't have basic fab skills (like a welder) I wouldn't even consider. I'm pretty sure no shop would be able to make much of a profit on such a conversion for less than the cost of the kits. Beyond that, wouldn't trust just any fab shop to do the math and the engineering and get a suspension that worked right.

Wish there was an easier or cheaper way to do coilovers, but if there was it would probably be an ebay special chinese made copy of a fabtech or skyjacker kit.

Tell me about it. Still, for me, if I wanted to wind up with a great riding truck, I'd just go with the coil over conversion kit. At least someone has done all the tech stuff for me.
