hey guys, I have a few knocks in my motor I want to try and clear u
p without much tearing into. Unsure how long ago, but the motor was rebuilt. I use 10w-30 castrol high mileage oil with a
purlator[s
p?] filter. Funcitonal oil
pressure
gauge shows about 45
psi at cold and around 20 warm at idle. 5.8L motor.
First I have a knock from the to
p end that is there when i first crank u
p the truck, goes away when
put in drive however it returns at certian r

p
ping against something else metal but I checked my oil
pressure gauge line and it's not touching anything.
Second, I have a low noise coming from the motor, if i had to guess I would say it was a main bearing but from what I hear if it were a main beaing going bad my oil
pressue would suffer. I can only hear this noise at idle with my head near the transmission tunnel in the cab,
po
p the hood and I cant hear it over the fan and noisy alt. Doesn't seem to be there when the motor is revved u
p.
Would a com

The bottom end noise kind of sounds like a roaring bearing. I will crawl under it tonight and see if I can hear it. Tomorrow I'll pop off the valve covers...their leaking anyway.
