It is an upgrade spring for the fuel regulator due to the fact the older spring equals less fuel pressure as it ages...basically boosts your fuel pressure..

I didn't know you could just buy the spring. I have been buying the complete kit with the cover. Do you know what the purpose of the new cover is?

Unless the cover is broken I don't see any reason to replace it...everything seems to work fine with the old one.

Damn...I just looked at the price of the spring kit on Riffraff's page. They charge about $60 for the kit with the cover and the dealer near me wanted $97 for the same one. Talk about a mark-up...

That's why I try to encourage guys to do business with Clay (RiffRaff). The guy runs an excellent PSD business and customer service is 2nd to-none. Check out how much he wants for OEM filters....he's getting very competitive with DieselFilterOnline.

Here's some more numbers:

Blue Spring

Upgraded fuel pressure regulator kit (with cover): Ford#3C3Z-9T517-AG*IH #1843065C98
Fuel Pressure Regulator "Spring and Reseal Kit Only" (no cover, should be much cheaper, has gasket): Ford#6E7Z-9C165-B IH#1854267C94
Regulator cover gasket only: Ford#3C32-9C065-AA

I paid $64.62 for my full kit a few months ago from my local dealer.
PartsGuyEd.com has the full kit for $52.80 (recently marked down).
Tousley Ford Parts Depot

I posted some pics of my install here and more info has been added:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ue-spring.html

I like saving a few bucks too, but I hate getting part way through a job and need somthing else. The full kit has all the parts for about half the price of an oil change.
