Hello.... 2000 f350, 7.3 was performing just fine. 145,000 miles, turbo back magnaflo, gear vendors od. auto tranny. parked it 5 days ago, left to go on trip, got back, (after 2 days of nites @ 30*f) went to start, engine turns over fine, volts @ 12.2, no start, pulled fuel filter, screen on housing black and jelled, cleaned bowl, lite black jelling, replaced filter, turned key to on to fill bowl, then drained, refilled fuel bowl, cycled plugs 2 times, same thing.. no start, engine rolls over a good speed, batterys are up, just checked for codes, showes none. have been reviewing other 7.3 threads. heater is on truck, motor is completely warm to touch, fuel is full. checked all fuses, ok, no odor of fuel or smoke at tail pipe. read codes with programmer, ((predator) only use programmer when towing)) am reviewing how to read real time so may have codes in a bit. any help/suggestions would be helpful?
Have you checked to make sure the GPR (glow plug relay) is working? Have you checked the battery volts while cranking? You need to make sure you have around 10.5 volts while cranking in order for the IDM to fire the injectors.
Had one that did just what yours is doing. Believe it or not it was a battery. Had a bad cell and it would not start the truck. May want to Have the batteries load tested on the safe side.
You should be getting smoke out the tailpipe. A lot of smoke actually if it's around 30 degrees. Like Rick said, you may have good voltage while sitting. But what happens when you go to cranking it?
Thanks for the QUICK replys folks.. , GPR is passing voltage, Batterys are less that 2weeks old, but did check voltage when cranking, was 11.1, location is venice florida, so, when i said cold. it was 2 nites in the lo 30's, which is kinda cool here. just while trying to start, using code reader, note: no smoke or smell of fuel @ exhaust pipe, BUT reader showed code of p0340. now what??

So I bought a 2000 f-350 7.3 six speed a few months ago. The truck ran fine for a wile, then it started to have the hard cold start issue. It would take someo *cranking to start it, then it would start then die. So I start it agian and it runs. Just the other day it started acting that way when I start it when it's warmed up. It died at a stop sign yesterday and it would not start. Towed vehicle home, the next morning I bought a new glow plug relay and installed it. I also checked and added oil to the top res. the truck started. I drove down the street, turned it off, came back out of the market and no start. Rpm gage moves when cranking, shows oil pressure when cranking, and is at about 200 rpm when cranking. So I replaced cps, nothing changed. Came back the next morning put some more oil in the top res, level was about 1" from top. Truck starts. Drove to house, on the way over it cut out while driving twice. Got home held rpm around 2000 , and it would studer randomly. I shut it of and all it will do is crank over. Injectors replaced 20,000 ago. It also would miss when driving in the rain randomly . Help!!!!

Chris, welcome to FTE.
It would be better for you to start a new thread to keep from getting yours and the OPs problem confused on the post. Plus you will get more people helping you on your problem.
You'll need a 10mm wrench or socket. Spray some PB Blaster on it and let it sit a few minutes if it doesn't want to break loose. I was scared I was going to break mine off before it finally broke loose!
If cps is no joy, take a look at the fuel bowl heater fuse, #30. If burned out, disconnect heater at base of fuel bowl, insert new fuse and start her up.
