I recently installed a set of glowshift gauges in my 2002 F-350 and after i installed them I went to try them out, truck started great but SES light came on and no throttle response.
Steps taken - Checked all the fuses - everything seems okay and all gauges still work.
- Plugged in a computer and got code P0122 = low input voltage to TPS
- Un hooked the connector to the TPS and tested the wires individually,
all wires test out okay besides the 5 -volt reference wire. i have no reference signal to the TPS from the PCM.
- Any ideas before i go and take apart the connections and try to test the wires from the PCM or the PCM itself???
Hopefully im missing something simple
Since you recieved only a code for the TPS, I would assume the 5v reference at the PCM is being given at that connection because it seems to be the only sensor affected. According to the following wiring diagram, it looks other sensors receive the reference voltage from the same source and are spliced into the same wire. I do not know where this splice is located, but would work from APP sensor toward the PCM looking for the open circuit.
Where did you tie in your gauge wiring? Could this be affecting the reference signal in some way? APP Sensor wiring.pdf
I used a power probe and with the key on, i probed the connector from the PCM to the TPS. Results -
VPWR (6) = 12.2 v
(7) = 0.0
(8) = 0.0
(9) = 0.0 +grnd
(10) = no signal, no readings
* I installed a Boost - Pyro - and Fuel pressure gauge.
I powered these with an add a fuse, switched powered from the headlight fuse and the constant power from a non used 10a fuse.

I would just like to pass along something I was taught years ago and that is never use a power probe on reference signal, sensors or any other low voltage wires because you can harm the pcm or sensors. I was taught to always use a meter/dvm on low voltage. That may not always be true but better save than sorry. And if you have been using a power probe you might have damaged the sensors or pcm. Just my 2 cents.
