For roughly the last year I have been adding Acetone to my fuel very time I gas up in a 2 once to 10 gallon ratio and I can say that I don't think there has been that much of a change in fuel economy or at least it has not reduced my economy by any amount I could tell.
But the one thing I have noted is that engine is running much much smoother even in very humid weather or during the winter were I have not driven for a few days where before I could feel and see a slight shutter at idle.
Now intrigued by 2011FX2Crazy recent post in the 2009+ F150 section about his experience with his new ecoboost and running pure gas vs the common E10 blend and the noticeable mileage and performance gains he noted.
So I'm going to start over the next few tanks switch over from Quiktrip 87 octane E10 gas to 91(may have been 93) octane pure gas or E0 and for awhile see if not adding Acetone will bring back that shutter with the new gas.
I can't give hard calculated numbers due to the fact that my odometer only works 50-60% of the time so I will just go by my not so accurate "Where is the gas needle at 2 weeks after I last filled up" method.
Opinions, suggestions, or donations to my "research" are welcomed.
gas in Illinois has 15% alcohol content. It will drop about .5 to 1 MPG compared to pure gas. The alcohol will clean things VERY well. I had a 89 F250 i sold with 250k miles and never an injector/ fuel pump problem. Present EXP has 150K and F150 has 220K, no problems. I doubt the acetone does anything for milage, but could have some effect on injector cleaning.
Our company looked at some Fords for our Fleet to replace some of our aging ones. It came down to money and decided next year would be a better time.
But anyway, all the documention we got says do not run E85 in a EcoBoost. It has to have gas only. We don't have it around here but just thought I would mention it.
That is not what you were asking, sorry. I am not sure how the E10 would do in a eco boost. I did not mean to hijack, sorry.

Considering E10 is for the most part what most people call regular gas these days I would think that it is ok to run in a ecoboost. I am surprised that the ecoboost isn't flexfuel capable though.

Every few tanks I run some Lucas Fuel Treatment for cleaning purposes but I have heard that acetone does clean somewhat the fuel internals. Personally though I have my doubts about that since this stuff was also said to eat through fuel lines and rubber etc in days.
