I need to find a schematic for my truck just the electrical for an 86 250 2wd I'm having a problem with not getting any spark and I just replaced the modulator, coil, computer, and the pickups in the distributer. still no spark what is there left besides the wires between the 2?
yes I have 12vdc on the coil when the key is on. and the modulator too. but it fals off alot when the truck is being turned over. AKA started. sense the problem has started I have gotten 2 sparks out of it, and a couple of fires but nothing to ammount to anything. I have a hanes on order they didnt' have the one for my year in stock. thanks all anyother in put is appreciated
does the starter turn the engine over as fast as normal, or is it slow. If the battery has poor AMPS, the VOLTS will read fine, but it might not have enough juice for both systems. your solenoid could be acting up too.
it turns over normal to me. your talking about that red and blue wire comeing from the solenoid to the modulator right yeah that has 12v there too. as far as amps I dont' know it is kind of a challange to hook um a volt ohm meter in serise with the circuit. and I know the battery is good I had it checked
Don't try to put any meter in series with the starter. If it didn't explode or catch fire, it'd burn the fuse instantly. The meters for testing over 30A are inductive - they clamp around the wire they're measuring.
There are a few other active threads about cranking problems, so look around.
I wasnt' going to put it there I was talking about between the modulator and the solenoid. I'm an electrician I know about that kinda stuff. but thanks for the tip I'll check out other places.
