Drive Shaft Advice
I have decided to get a new drive shaft. I have narrowed it down to two options. 1. A two-piece CV shaft from High Angle Driveline. 2. A one-piece 5 inch diameter aluminum shaft from CCI http://www.ccidriveline.com/ford/monster-5-aluminum-drive-shaft-upgrade.html and eliminate the carrier bearing. The truck is a crewcab shortbed with 5.5 inches of lift, but I may go to 7 inches later. Anybody have any experience with either shaft? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

If you are looking to install a single piece driveshaft, look at that type of driveshaft installed in stock trucks. The single piece driveshaft has a double cardan joint at the transfer case. The "monster" driveshaft looks to have standard u-joints.
It might be best to source a used single piece driveshaft and then have it lengthened to match your setup exactly.

When I spoke with CCI, they had no problem adding a CV joint to the shaft. They said their standard Monster shaft works for most people. The CV may be overkill for my application, but I hope to get it right the first time. I still have not figured out whether to get the one or two piece. I was hoping someone else had tried the aluminum shaft.

I would post your question in the "Offroad & 4X4" section of FTE. Those guys know what's best when upgrading drive shafts (See link below).
