spring code from VIN?

spring code from VIN?
Ok, so i managed to locate a set of front springs thru a want ad i posted on CL and i'm pretty excited. The owner said that he checked with the dealer and that using the VIN, they were able to determine that the springs were V-code. Is this possible? I know that there's no way to decode via the stamped numbers/letters on the spring. I just want to be able to rule out any type of misidentification or anything before i make an offer on these "v-codes".

My parts department could tell me with the last 8 of the VIN.

Tel them you need replacment springs for your truck. Give them the VIN when they quote you the price ask them what code the springs are.

Good info, thanks. I'll be calling the dealer with the guy's VIN, just to confirm.
