Yeah, this summer I will probably leave it out more so I have more excuses to drive it.

Here is my saga of dropping a tie rod while driving: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-fall-off.html

Today my mud flaps arrived. They are 18.5" wide. I figured I would need to cut them down, but since I will attach them a ways back from the tire, I think they will look just fine. I'm not sure when I will get a chance to install them.

I need to temporarily attach them to see what they look like standing behind the truck.

If I painted, I don't know what color I would use. Sea Sprite Green will take extra effort to find.
I do like the wood grain look, so I will probably stain them.

I've never been known for my upper body strength. Maybe I should drive my truck more often to get more exercise.

Also, It is supposed to rain today so I went ahead and put the truck back in the garage. I was able to do it without letting air out of the tires. It rubbed a little on the rubber seal on the top of the garage. That was nice. I just need a couple hundred pounds in the bed and it should go in and out easy.
With such a great job done on the bed frame the bed itself should look just as good.

Thanks Steve, I have to balance the patina of the truck with the nice new bed.

Between all the tie rod stuff and being sick, as well as my daughter, I clamped the mud flaps onto my truck in about the location I plan on putting them.

I don't think I will need to cut them down any. I need to drill some holes in the bed crossmember of the bed and bolt them up.

Your mudflaps look good, Joe!

BTW, when you are feeling better and you got your tie rod fiasco figured out, you have to put some handles on your back board to make it easier to lift it off. Like this

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Getting better, really not too bad, but it sure is annoying having to cough whenever you talk much. I have a business trip Sunday and tons of stuff to get done at work before I go.

Excellent suggestion. I was thinking about how to get these off easier. Handles on the back end will really help.

A side not on sideboards. I put the stakes in the holes then attached the sideboards. I quickly discovered that if your stakes aren't in straight, It is very difficult to get them back out. So, when I finally got them out, I fixed them so they would all go in the stake pockets smoothly.

Those flaps look good, Joe. Looks like there could be DRWs hiding in front of them

Unless your sideboard wood is completely cured, dry, you may have to adjust those stakes again. How do I know this

Thanks Ray, I hadn't thought about that. I will keep an eye on them as they finish drying. They had a bit of moisture in them from the lumber yard, so I'm sure they will be moving a bit.

Small update. I have a gal at work that does vinyl stuff, so I had her make me a ford script in outdoor vinyl.
Before:

After:

She accidentally made one in reflective white vinyl and a little too large. I have that one and a smaller one as well. Just have to figure out what to do with them. I'm very pleased!

Next step, mud flaps. Gotta get them installed.

Unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to get my truck out. My mom in in ICU in Springfield after her lungs filled with blood during a heart valve replacement. We are 10 days in and hoping to begin weaning her off the vent. So, Gwen and I have been spending a lot of time down there.

I'm pondering removing my caster shims to see what that does, but I need to drive it for a while to see how it is driving first.

Joe, sorry bout your Mother's hospitalization. I hope she continues to get better and get home soon.

Your truck will be there when she's better.
