I need to find out where the carburetor vacuum lines go on my 1985 Ford F150 300 straight 6 with a/c automatic transmission single barrel carburetor with single gas tank.
Begin with the Vacuum Hose Routing sticker on the radiator support under the hood.
The dist vacume hose on my 80 l6 is pluged into the ported vacume sw that is mounted in the thermostat housing. Dosent seem correct to me. Any of you know where it's supposed to go?

I can't remember if the sticker on the radiator shows it or not?
Did you check out Gary's site if he has a vacuum hose routing?
Your hose placement could right. That temp switch would not let vacuum to the distributor for faster warm ups keeping timing retarded till motor was up to temp.

Thanks Gary. I like your license plate. I have a single vac dist and one of those schematics shows a single dist vac going to carb center port marked with an (s). Would that actually be on the carb or a three ported adapter behind it? Thanks Charles
Thanks. That's a good question, and I don't know the true answer. However, regardless of what the factory did I always use ported vacuum for my vacuum advance. And that's especially true of vehicles with automatic transmissions.
So, I would start the engine and find a port that doesn't have vacuum at idle but does have full vacuum, probably about 21", above idle. However, some carbs don't have a port that gives full vacuum above idle, so you may have to resort to manifold, or full-time, vacuum.
It's on the base of the carb. I'm going to R+R all my vacuum lines soon. All the spaghetti tube is brittle, and it's also all hooked up wrong, according to my diagram. The PO even put a 3 port vacuum switch where there is supposed to be a 4 port switch. I'll try to remember to take some pics when I do it
I thought I could "help" it some, but it didn't really help much. Still having a hard time reading it. If you could get a better picture of that label as well as of your certification label on the driver's door I'd like to use them on my web site under Vacuum Diagrams.
