I dont know what it is, but something on the front axle is making noise. It sounds like when you turn a wheel by hand and you hear the brakes on the rotor. It sounds kinda like that, but it seems louder.
Could my hubs be wearing out or something?
I just did my brakes, is it possible that they are dragging so much now that I can hear/feel them? I put new slide pins in when I did it. I assume I did it right, I havn't had problems. Also I get between 13-15mpg per tank now days which is actually higher than when I bought the truck, so that doesnt seem like dragging brakes.
Did you replace the brake pad clips & springs or reuse the old ones?
Could have a hung up pad - you should be able to move (wiggle) both calipers and the pads should move freely in the spring clips.
Did the pads feel tight when ya installed them?

I used new clips. I didnt know pads should have wiggle room in the caliper.
They won't move much but they shouldn't be solid tight either. Basically what you're feeling for is the springs opening the pads slightly w/o the brakes applied. If they won't budge at all something's stuck.
My hubs made more of a roar sound when they went bad. When you did the brakes do you think you could have bent the tab over the abs on the dust shield up a bit? That can rub sometimes.. heh heh don't ask how I know.
I'll check that abs plug shield. I did grease through the abs plus once and when I folded them back down they didnt go down like factory an could have been caught on something.
Worthy note, I went and checked my calipers. One of the bolts attaching the caliper to the hub was baked out to the point where I could see threads. Probably an inch and a half exposed bolt shaft! I retorqued all the caliper and slide pin bolts for safe measures.

Once I lost a bolt that held the frame on, when I hit the brakes the whole thing would rotate and rub on the inside of the wheel. Apparently I left one loose thinking I had tightened it. Anyway I went back to where I first heard the noise and found the bolt!! I was excited because it was on the weekend and the Ford service shop was closed.
