I used Fel-Pro gaskets and RTV'd the gasket to the valve cover
Sparingly apply a bead to the valve cover rail and let it outgas for 10 minutes before applying the gasket. ....You'll know you used too much if it oozes out. Let dry throroughly before bolting them on. You want it evenly snug and let the gasket do its job. Remember to recheck the bolts after a few run cycles and until the gaskets achieve their final crush.
I prefer not to use any adhesive, instead i just apply a light coat of hi-temp bearing grease to both sides of the gasket, i use Victor-Reinz rubberized cork gaskets, they've never stuck to the heads and have been re-used multiple times, leak free on a FE, which is somewhat prone to valve cover leaks as it only uses five bolts to distribute the clamping force across the valve cover.
