ac clutch question

ac clutch question
hey guys I just started to notice my ac clutch comes on when you put the selector **** on face and floor. I know in defrost and ac mode it will come on but why when its just on face and floor??

FYI,
The link I posted earlier came from the 1999 workshop manual.
Out of curiosity, I looked at the 2000 workshop manual to see if there were any differences and I found some. It talks about 'auxiliary climate control' (which I presume might be for the Excursion models...
)
At any rate, there are some minor differences so I thought I'd post those pages since the 2000 manual is probably a better reference for you than the 1999 info.
