The plastic part on the bumper will come off. I haven't had my bumper off in a while, but there is some way to squeeze clips or something from the inside to get it off. A bunch of people have taken theirs off to show the chrome underneath. Is yours Toreador Red with the gold cladding? If so I personally wouldn't go black on body parts/wheels unless you ditched the cladding so it was just red and black.

yeah it is. But the mirrors and window/wind blocker thingies are already black. Plus I think chrome behind that big tan/gold grill guard will look odd. Why hasn't anyone does this already so I can compare the two? Plus no matter how much I look I can't find but ONE excursion with black rims. Maybe that's a good thing actually, there definitely wouldn't be any others like mine! If I do go chrome, on the 05-07 bumper it is black on the valance part, won't I have to then have that painted some color?

I forgot you have the big gold grill guard. I think it would look fine with chrome behind it, but another option would be to paint the grill red like the truck. Look at Alaskan Ex's Excursion to see what a red grill looks like with gold around it. His is a 99-04 F250 grill, but a comparison for the colors.
