I have a 1990 4.9L EFI, the breather element by the air filter gets soggy with oily water (not anti freeze). The breater tube coming from the top of the engine to the breater also has oily water. It's almost like condesation building up inside the tube. I have to change the breather about every 2-3 months. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
hmmm.... I would say replace your PCV valve. If your PCV system is properly functioning, air shouldn't flow from the engine to the air cleaner housing, but rather, the other way..... Also, do you take a lot of short trips that don't get the engine fully warmed up? Oily water or foam anywhere in the crankcase is usually caused by normal short trip driving, and is not the end of the world, but it's also not a great thing, and should be good incentive to change your oil every 3000 miles.
Will try new PVC, have replaced it before, maybe got a bad one. Not a whole lot of short trips, about 20 minutes to work everyday. Oil in crankcase is not oily. I change oil every 3k religously(sp). Water seems to be only soaking breater element, and is in tube from top of valve cover to breather. Just seems to be condensation. Does anyone else have or had this problem.
