Is there a place online that summarizes test procedures for AE specifically for the 6.0. I just ordered mine and will have it on friday and would like to put a binder together with the processes. I'm not sure how confusing the menus will be.
Or, can I use the procedures that are listed on the ford dvd service manual?
I'm looking forward to doing a cold start contribution balance test. (however the abs light was what pushed me over the edge to finally order it). I'm excited

The menus, to me anyway, are fairly easy to go through and figure things out on your own. I don't know of a comprehensive one stop source that explains everything specifically for our trucks, you might have to go searching around and finding it here and there.
I don't have the DVD manual, but if it goes over specifically any software, I would imagine it would be IDS before anything else. If it mentions software applications at all.
You'll like the program. I know I like it. I just wish it would also run off of Linux.
As Tex said wander through the menus. One tab allows you to turn on a number of parameters that you can monitor. After you have selected a few click on the graph tab and you can see plots of the data.
A test that I like is the cylinder contribution test. It will show you if you have uneven power and shows which cylinder is low. Maybe I like it because I have a nice straight line?
There are some IPR sensors you can pull up to check the high pressure oil system.
Great, thanks for the links. The dvd states the stuff like "set the ipr to 45%", and vgt percentages ect. I think if the menu isnt confusing then hopefully I can translate the ids instructions from the dvd and make it work on ae.
Its gonna be nice to actually use the scan tool with the dvd,,,, I've always had to just skip those instructions when faced with an issue.
I've been trying to find this Cylinder Contribution Test. I can find the Power Balance and it shows a straight line at idle (above it shows nothing). I tried turning off injectors to see the effect but I get a security error.

I get the same error. Anybody know how to fix it? I've tried two different laptops and uninstalling and reinstalling the software on both laptops multiple times.
Did you happen to do an update to the software, but didn't update the OBD-II connector firmware? Sometimes that can create a communication problem between the laptop and the vehicle.
I am having the same error, I upgraded to the V10.0.3 and updated my OBD-II connection. Currently I have the security dongle in and start the program, then connect my AG to my vehicle which if I'm doing the KOEO test I have it in the run but not started, connect and run the test. When I get ready to run test with the engine running I disconnect, start vehicle then connect, then I start view sensors and the like.
When I upgraded I went ahead and tried everything out and it all worked, now for some reason when I try with running and try shutting injectors off or the like I get the security message and I can't run any test.
I'm about to uninstall then re-install and double check the OBD-II firmware and try again.
You know, now I'm wondering if there was a Windows update that doesn't want to play well with AE, if y'all are using Win7. I always disable OS updates from the get go for a variety of reasons, this being one of them.
I don't know if that is what is going on here or not, but it could be a possibility as well. Gotta love computers.

I know the feeling, I'm planning on uninstalling AE, then re-install AE check the firmware on the connector. Once I do that if it works only one time, I'll be contacting AE to see what might be the problem, hopefully it might be something simple.
be interested to see how this goes. I don't have the luxury of a laptop that never touches the internet, and if you do then you better get the updates. This one is XP.

It just depends on what they updates are. I have one custom built tower and one custom built laptop and I go through all the updates and selective install them. Mainly the security certificate updates. Everything else doesn't even get downloaded.
XP I wouldn't think would be an issue. Only other thing would be on AE's end. What has me stumped is what the "security error" is referencing. Did it give an error number?
I get the security error when doing another test and then try to disable injectors. I either close the software or get the other test to stop and it has worked for me.
sux that some of you are having problems. good luck
