first thought for the brake light being on is fluid level. Would look at the resevoiour under the hood, if low, top it off. Then look at the wheels for wetness so see where/if its leaking.
I have a 98 2wd. The E-brake uses the same warning light. My E-brake causes the light to stay on almost every time. I just stick my toe under the E-brake peddle and pull up on it while holding the release lever out.
