Well, as usual, I searched and it was not very useful.
Do they make repro's or do I need to start the search for an original? On all of the parts websites I've checked I see no listing. The few I've seen on ebay are toast and they still want a fortune....maybe because if they're not repro'd they're unobtanium.
Just wanted to ask the hive mind since the knowledge here is immense.
I've never seen a repro 53 grille. Only 56's and oddly enough, the 48-50. Used is going to be your best bet. Keep an eye on ebay, craigslist, and local papers and swap meets. They do pop up fairly regularly. I don't know what you consider a small fortune, but decent grilles of any year will easily fetch around $100 or more.

One guy on ebay recently wanted $600 for one that was in very, very rough shape.
I'd easily pay 300 bucks or more for one that was decent but definitely not $600 for one that's pretty much at the end of it's life.
Damn. For 600 you could have picked up a 95% parts complete 53 F100 here in Colorado last month.
Yeah, he must have bumped his head I guess. I'd easily pay 100-200 bucks for a good one and more than that for an almost perfect one. But 600 for a perfect one still seems a bit much, especially one in horrible shape.
This grille is in much better shape but he still wants $650....think I'll wait until the Nationals and see if anyone has one there, I'll at least save on shipping.
