Irelands Child...did you get a chance to do your plugs yet...I should tackle mine on my 05 F250 V10 sometime soon...169,000, I know they were changed once at 90000..so figured getting to be about that time again. I have the long Plug socket..but no Lesile tool as of yet...hoping since they have been done already it will go better. What prices are you getting on the plugs?
And I hear ya on the fiasco also..just got into my rear assemblies...and it ended up being about everything also from seals, bearings, races, dust shields, emergency brake pads, rotors turned, new pads......more or less the whole rear assembly

Nope - haven't gotten to the plugs yet. After doing the truck's rear end work in 25-35 degree weather, am not going to do the plugs probably until mid March - or at least until we hit the 50s daily. Instead, just getting my '31 roadster ready in the heated shop for some spring rides and it's about there
I've had the plugs for about a year (yeah, procrastination, charter member of that club) but as far as the price of the plugs - I caught someone on the internet for about eight bucks each. Haven't checked lately, but they are NOT cheap.and haven't seen them anywhere near that number since. Also got the boots and springs plus a tube of dielectric grease so have about $115 plus the $60+ Lisle tool. My new socket is just a replacement tool for my big tool box
I thought I would get to the plugs this week but 8" of fresh snow and the return of cold weather these past 2 days squashed that idea.
Since Ford switched from Aero-Kroil to their Motorcraft PM2 or 3 carb cleaner in the latest TSB, has anyone used something else? I have the Kroil (great penetrant!!) plus some Valvoline carb cleaner. The Valvoline says it will dissolve carbon too- but in looking at the two MSDS, doesn't appear to have any lubricant which the Motorcraft does. My two local Ford dealers "will get it for me", but $12-$14 a can plus shipping and tax seems awfully steep vs a fresh can of Valvoline at Advance for about $4.

Comments??
Just an opinion but any good or better carbon dissolving penetrating solution should do the job adequately. The biggest concern is breaking the carbon loose naturally but I'm thinking better stuff will work quicker?
Kroil is mentioned very often in other plug threads so there has to be something to its use. I'd bet RockAuto or Advanced has or can get the Motorcraft stuff with no problem. When ordering on-line carefully checking the shipping prices helps keep costs down---if free shipping above a certain amount is offered I'll try to meet it, assuming there are other things I need or want from that supplier.
Hopefully you've got all the info and sources needed to start this job? Working outside is always a challenge for us in the cold weather states!

I originally checked Rock, doing a search when I was buying rear brake parts then just for an exercise, again this morning. Advance seems to have 57 other varieties of spray carb cleaner, but no Motorcraft. There is only one on-line source that I've found, Woody's and their shipping is enough so that I might as well have the local Ford store get me a can. There is a half can on Ebay, but...... I'll just get a spare can of the Valvoline and be done with it - then do the plugs some day when it warms above 45-50 for the day.
Brain fart..sorry...I knew I saw it somewhere...but when you go thru as many pages as I have been on you get very confused..well that is me usually confused...hahaha
Just doing a double check on the plugs that I have - Autolite HT2. I see that there is also an HT15. What's the difference, if any? They are both " Revolution High Thread" etc, etc, etc

Just a WAG it might have to do with the heat range? Someone here will know and hopefully add some information.
