400 4bbl question

I have a 78 f-150 with a 400. I live in Cali so I am not supposed to put a 4bbl on. I have a carb and intake but smog is holding me back. I don't want to have to put stock intake a carb back on every 2 years. Is there any thing I can do? Is there any alternatives for puting the carb on? My truck has good power but I want more. Any other suggestions for power increasment is open. Thanx alot for whoever replies.

400 4bbl question

I've been kicking around the same question. I dont think youll need to switch the manifold, just the carb. I was planning on using an adapter and just dropping the 2bbl and egr plate on when I go down to get it smogged and then take it back off and bolt on my 4bbl.

400 4bbl question

I thought the newer Edelbrock intake was CARB approved if the original carb was used. Swapping a carb should take 20 minutes but even the manifold isn't that hard since it's a dry intake. A $10 gasket and an afternoon spent swapping the manifold every 2 years is a small price to pay.

400 4bbl question

The Edelbrock Performer 400-EGR is C.A.R.B. approved as a 50 state legal stock replacement part when used with the stock carb and the 2V EGR plate/adapter that comes with the manifold. If you get the 4V EGR plate you can install any square bore 4V on it.
