I hope this doesn't sound rude, but do people actually steal wheels off of trucks where you guys live? Is it common?
I can't imagine having to worry about locking my wheels onto the truck...
When I lived in metro Denver, my long-bed dually PU didn't fit into the garage. I had my wheels locked and nobody took them but they did steal the step rails off while it was siltting in my driveway. My neighbors lost things like wheels, headlamp assemblys, etc.
I went so far as taking the welder and tagging the nuts onto the bolts holding my Warn bumper on my Dodge PU to keep it mine. Scumbags abound and when they see something like tires/wheels that may net them $1000 on Craigslist, they'll take them if they see the opportunity.
I live in a nice neighborhood but we have had issues with teens breaking into vehicles. Like many east coast towns there are large populations of illegal immigrants and gang activity within a half hour drive. I don't think my truck tires will get stolen at home but it could happen anywhere near DC.
I call it peace of mind for $45.00. If for some reason somebody does steal them Inat least did my part in making it a little more difficult and/or they might not want to mess with it and go to another truck. Check out this video by bulla a fellow FTE brother from the 7.3 forum. They were robbed! - YouTube

Anymore, it doesn't seem to matter much whether you're living in a nicer neighborhood or not, there are roving bands of thieves that cruise around and hit different areas day and night.
I picked up my truck from the dealer last year in March. I stopped in a week later to swap out a tailgate strap I thought was too short with a twin to my truck that the dealer had ordered when he ordered mine. It was in the back lot and my sales weasel and I rode out to it in a golf cart. There is was, up on blocks missing all four wheels and tires along with 3 other SDs in the same condition. This is one of the newest Ford dealers in the area with state of the art cameras covering almost every inch of the lot...almost every inch. Surveillance video showed a very small area where those trucks were was not covered. This is also in the middle of town, not out in the toolies. Ordered the factory locks off eBay for $45 that day and have slept pretty well since then.
That is why I conceal carry a glock .45. There are too many people in this country who feel entitled to take what they want rather than actually working for it.
