I got a 63 f100 and was wondering if they make conversion kits to change over to hydrolic clutch or if theres an easy way to convert it yourself id love to have a 5 spd instead of stuffin a c4 in it thanks
I don't know if this could be done or not, I do not know of any kits out there to do it. I do know it would require cutting a hole in your firewall for mounting the master cylinder, as well as modifying your clutch pedal for the master cylinder rod to attach to. I also know that Ford used a factory hydraulic clutch system from I think 1957-1960 (I know that my 59 4x4 was equipped with it). You might be able to use a master cylinder for one of these trucks and fabricate a line to go from it to the slave cylinder on your tranny. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
I just finished a T5 conversion with a 302 in my 66. In my opinion, a hydraulic clutch id the way to go. Yes, you have to mount a master cylinder and probably get creative with the brake lines out of the brake master, since they want to occupy the same space. I used a Wilwood master and a push type slave cylinder on a bracket mounted to the trans. There are sources for kits with everything included. You'll need to shorten your driveshaft about 1 inch since the T5 is that much longer. Make sure you get the T5 specific bell housing. An original clutch pedal asesembly will work fine. Mine went together with no issues. The truck is much more fun to drive now.
