Stiff Shifter

I checked out a 99' F250 Off Road 4X4 automatic today. It is a nice truck with lower miles. The only thing that seemed to bother me was the gear shifter was very stiff. You have to apply more pressure than usual to change gears. Is this a common problem? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

They could have tightened the linkage. Usually fords have alot of slop in the linkages. Was it a re-man transmission do you know or if it plowed?

I have always had a trans shop adjust mine I just didnt like all the slop in between gears. The linkage might just need to be lubricated on the outside of the transmission if it wasnt driven much
