Anybody run into any body famous lately? I just had recollection of previous Celebrity moments in my life, wonderin if yall have some stories.... my favorite was when i had a beer with the drummer from Nickelback. too bad i cant remember his name.... oh well, live ya learn...
I was in the Louvre in Paris and John Larroquette was there with his family. I was on a high school trip in 1999 I think. One of my teachers went and got his autograph.
My buddies and I drank beer and shot pool with the band Slayer, way back in the late 80's.
I was going to my dad's house, and I see a tour bus in the parking lot of Raley's super market. I didn't think much of it at the time. Later that evening I went to my buddy's house, and we dicided to go up to the local pub for a few. There were a few strangers there, and after a while we got to talking with them, and they introduced themselves as the member of the band Slayer. Turns out the drummer's parents live in my dad's neighborhood. I can't remember if they were palying in Sacramento or somewhere around there or if they were just passing through. it was a good night, they bought all the rounds of beer and pool, even though we tried to pay several times.
Several years ago, I went to a bar-b-que and met Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Brad Pitt's parents live in Springfield and go to church with the parents of someone I used to work with. He invited me to his parent's house where the bar-b-que was at. Brad and Jennifer showed up, and I got to chat with Jennifer. I really didn't care for Brad, but Jennifer is really the girl next door type.
Yeah but if you're a teenage girl and they touch you! Teenage girls love it when celebrities touch them! I remember when I was at the 2002 Winter Olympics, my brother participated in doubles luge, for that he got some special tickets or passes to the medal ceremony, gave me one. For the ceremony there was a path laid out through the crowd for people with passes to get up to the stage area, walking through there everybody was giving me high fives and everything, felt pretty cool even though I was just another regular Joe.
It matters only because its cool! Nothing like seeing someone in person we usually see on television or a movie screen----can't help but comparing them with their images and our real friends though.
In no particular order I've "met" Raquel Welch (huge teenage crush, shared a dinner table), Gina Gershon (LA bar, she was just a budding starlet at the time), shared a beer with Lt Col Hal Moore, then-Major Norman Schwarzkopf, an "actress" who later had a bit part in an adult film and numerous musicians too. Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Harry Gant, A. J Foyt, James Garner, Steve Kinser, Danny Sullivan---gosh I've been around and most of the memory still intact!
Its just fun----hopefully it doesn't change us----can't let someone else's light shine brighter than our own, especially "celebrities" !
I met Cheech Marin at an airport. He was trying to be low-key in L.A., but once we got off the plane in Salt Lake City, he as much more relaxed and friendly. I also met Jay Leno at a vintage car race, very nice guy. Plus lots of racers over the years. Kind of nice to see that most celebs are decent people when they're out of the spotlight.
Hung in the pits with Travis Pastrana a couple times, Talked to Dave Mirra at 100 acre Rally for about 30-45 mins (all the posers didnt know who he was before racing lol), built a boat for Bobby Labonte (didnt meet him though, i work for Tracker Marine), and when i rode MX back when i wad younger, ive raced against Mike Alessi, Jeff Alessi, and Kyle Cunningham all back in the 85cc class. I rode Will Hahns bike when mine broke (buddy bought 2 of his bikes). And ive done some trail riding with Isiah Johnson before too.
Queen Latifah has a house about a 4 miles from where I live, so she's a common sight in my town. I've seen Springsteen on numerous occasions, also Keifer Sutherland once. George Bush visited two years ago. Donald Trump owns one of the golf courses here and I've actually done business with his people in my job as the secretary for a municipal governing body here.
Scott Rasmussen of the venerable Rasmussen Reports polling company was the president of my church's governing body for six-ish years, and I heard him speak many times. Many people don't know this, but he and his father were the founders of the ESPN network. It was funny sitting in church listening to preachers complain about people watching football on Sunday, and the guy who invented cable sports was sitting right there.
I was a bit dismayed to have seen Jon Corzine in my town a few times.
