I'm starting to mod my 75 F250 for an onboard compressor. Stopped at a semi wrecking yard and got myself an airhorn and a pretty good size air tank. The tank is big enough that i'm considering making a potato gun for my truck. Any ideas where i should mount it? I'm making a flatbed in shop, so maybe a detachable swivel on the back. I don't intend to shoot tailgaiters but just something me and my friends can shoot up the ranch with. Any thoughts and ideas are welcome and appreciated.
Thank you HIO when i finally get this whole thing figured out and put together i will have to post pictures and video links. For ammo i was thinking full pop cans or soup cans might lob a little farther.
Tater guns are fun, but I would go with an easily detachable mount if I was serious about doing this. Depending on the design it can be a pain in the butt to load if it is mounted on a swivel. It's that idea sir newton came up with about equal and opposite reactions.
Post some pics if you do this, cause as redneck as this sounds, I have contemplated doing the same thing.
I have a piece of well casing I believe that connects to a smaller pipe....(air chamber and barrel) I just need to weld a back on, then tap the back for a coupler for the air hose and put a valve between the chamber and barrel. If the plan in my head is right this should work?! The swivel mount shouldn't take me more than a school week to draw up and weld together... thank god for two hour Shop classes

I love this idea ! An air horn & a tater cannon. Awesomeness !
Ive got a York compressor from my ac that I'm using to fab my onboard air system. As for your interchangeable barrels I would use the crows foot air fittings used on 3/4" and bigger air lines. Not that you will have 300 psi but I built an air cannon that would send golf ***** climbing outta sight. An electric valve will be the best firing devise. Have fun with it.
Thank you, i looked through that one when i started getting onboard air ideas, what model york is that and can you close your hood?
my york is the model 210, youl want the 210 for its biger displacement and faster recovery times.........i run air tools all the time with mine i even ran a ceiling texture gun the other day and it kept up just fine. and yes i can close my hood just fine
