I've said 100 times before that you don't buy a V-10 because it gets good mileage, you buy it because it pulls like nobodies business. The gas mileage is just the price of admission.
If I was worried about mileage I wouldn't own a truck.....

Amen brother.....
I like even better when people buy new trucks. Especially when they have no need for it other than a commuter vehicle and buy a something fully loaded with a turbo diesel or even the base motor (when it was 5.4 and V10 gas option) so they can get better mpgs. Wait a minute you just spend nearly $60,000 on truck and your concern is mileage? Salesmen must love these people. Either you overextended yourself buying that truck or your brain is disfuntional. Spending a boat load of money and trying to equate the word "saving" with it is kinda of an oxymoron.
Now diesel guys dont get your panties in a ruffle because I mentioned a diesel. I love the diesel trucks too!!

If I ever own a diesel it'll need to be a new truck with warranty because of the unfamiliarity. But it seems even still many guys are getting denied claims for things that are destroying their brand new trucks. I dont think its a shame on diesels but a shame that a manufacturer will not stand behind their products or design it better. BUT.....I'm sure there are plenty of people buying these things and not taking the proper care for them, diesel or gas. And it seems the diesel guys will say that you need to stay up on the simple routine maintenance issues. Everyone is too busy watching pointless tv programing, spending countless hours on FTE , and not disconnecting from their "smart" phones (which probably make you a dummy from staring at them sooo long) to do simple maintenance. My wife rolls her eyes at me when I say "Honey, I'm going to go outside and work on my car and truck" because I am always checking out my vehicles and looking for issues or doing maintenance.

Exactly!
People ask me what kinda mileage my truck gets and I'm like "well around 10-11 if I keep my foot out of it." I've also had people ask me if I've ever thought of going down to a 1/2 ton truck or even a car. Hell no! I'm driving my truck till it dies, then fixing it and driving it some more.

When my wife rolls her eyes or gives me a hard time about it, I just ask her, "When was the last time YOU were stuck broken down on the side of the road? Precisely! Never!"

Exactly! When we're out in the desert and everyones quads, bikes, trucks and trailers are breaking down left and right........my ***** works, first time, every time!
And I look at my wife and say "THAT'S why I spend so much time in the garage". And she appreciates it.
