Excursion cargo door check straps

In order to open the cargo doors fully (as in 90° to the car) the check straps need to be disengaged. The problem is that when disengaged unless you're parked on a flat surface they will close. Anyone come up with a good solution to this problem?

No, its annoying, I wish they had put a stiff "detent" at 90 and then let them open 180 with another detent. I guess they were afraid they would swing out and hit cars because they are so light.

No good solution yet, I've had them unhooked for almost as long as I've had the Ex. I added this to things to look at fixing when I build my storage in the rear doors.

you could carry a suction shower hook and stick it to the rear glass and run a little stretchy bungee cord if you want to park somewhere with them open like a tailgate... or maybe the rear wheel wells.

as the op started, they don't stay open at 180 degrees.

If you were parked on an incline with the front end pointing down, then it would stay opened at 180 degrees.

I've never noticed the problem with mine. I guess my hinges has enough friction to keep them opened.

You could always back into your driveway.

I unstrap door only when needed.

I have only had to unstrap mine a couple times. I haven't looked at it but I think if someone took the time to cut up a little chunk of 2x4 that would fit in the hinge just right, that would work to hold the doors open.
