Gas is a solvent and leaches all of the oils out of your skin.

Any kind of hand lotion will help but if you want the best try Corn Husker's lotion, it does not take much but it will make them feel better. Some Neosporin plus pain reliever creme will lower the chance of infection setting in to the broken skin. The pain reliever will also help the itch and soreness.

-NOT a medical opinion

Damn, cough, choke, giggle, hack, -hehehehe

I had forgotten about that stuff

That would work great! I have been away from the "farm" too long...

-Not exactly something you can find at the grocery store... Unless you are in the "right" parts of the country

My Hubby got me into using tranny fluid when I get my hands into any drying out fluids. Rub it in, let it sit for about 10 mins, wash it off, then use a hand lotion. It puts oil back into the skin much faster.

If you remove all of the protective oils from your skin your chances of developing dermatitus are very high. Lotions can sometimes increase the chance of ending up with dermatitus because your pores are totally unprotected and can be clogged by the "foreign" oils in the lotion.
I have dealt with full blown dermatitus a few times from working with cleaner/degreasers over long periods of time. The best thing I've found is apple cider vinegar. Soak some cotton gauze pads with it and apply them to your hands & wrsits and then cover them with latex surgical gloves and go to bed. After a couple of nights of this your hands will be all better.

I have had some pretty severe drying, when working in solvent all day.

I figure it is best just to enjoy it while it lasts, because it is so rare for my hands to be LESS oily than normal....

I always use an orange pumice hand cleaner, and every one I have seen contains a lotion that really does make my hands feel better.
