removing 1997 250HD ECT sensor
I have a 250 HD 5.8 auto FWD and the temp reads very high sometimes pegged although the truck never over heats.I think this information goes to the ECM and I would like to remove the ECT and get it checked. My question is, how do you get the electrical connection undone with out breaking it. In the past I have used a screwdriver but bad things usually come from that choice. Is there a Ford uncoupler? I have a picture but the forum says I can't post it.

FYI, the dash gauge has it's own sensor and it's located right in front of #5 injector(V8 motors) with a single wire pushed on over a stud in the top of the sensor. The ECT sensor above the themostat housing has absolutely nothing to do with the dash gauge and feeds the computer only.
