Dana 44 front driving axle w/8 lug wheels: It's from an F250 / 10-4-1967 = October 4, 1967, so it was originally installed in a 1968 F250 "High Boy."
Yes, after all this talk, my brain farted, and I realize you are so right! Spank Me. . Even if there was, a true Dual wheel truck would have had Bud wheels on the front also. Thanks for the info fellas. Dandy Dave!

In bad need of the axle. I wouldnt even know how to being to get there and get it. My other is a 67 F 250. It has the D-44s under it, but the front is trashed. You know how it is, when you got money in your pocket, no one wants to sell. When someone has one reasonable, you cant get to it. Lol. To me, its worth keeping, they are very hard to find down here.

Got one in North Carolina

I hope someone can use your axle, I also have the one from my 72 Highboy I just took out a few weeks ago, truck had 128,000 actual miles. front axle is in excellent shape. Only reason it was removed was I found a 76 open knuckle, disc brake axle. Located in central North Carolina. I have it in the Parts for sale Forum. Pictures are in the ad.

Why cant you be closer to the west coast. They would be worth something to the right person.........Like me!!!!!! hate to see you throw it away. Just stick it out behind the garage and someday when you least expect it the right person may come along. Kind of like you have an investment or money in the bank.

I could always cut the piece of frame loose, separate the springs and wheels, and load it on a pallet for trucking. Or is the trucking $ more than the axle is worth??? The problem back here in the "Not so Great North East" is that hard winters and salted highways have claimed most of these trucks many, many years ago. To see one like my 50 year old muti colored 62 F-250 still pushing snow is a very rare sight indeed. If it were not for my mechanical skills, scrougeabillity, and un-dieing determination to keep it running, it also would have been junked by an average joe years ago. I find myself dooling all over those rust free south western and far western trucks all the time. Makes me want to jump in my truck and trailer and hit the highway to bring one home. Two things stop me, the price of gas, and the price of what they are worth for scrap. Dandy Dave!

A good yard sprinkler slid up under it and let it run a little while on a warm day will get shed of some of that salt. Works on mine for mud.

Closed knuckle, low pinion, d44, couldn't get much worse, In my opinion its not at all desirable, not much good about it if you looking to build something for offroad. But if you have an old 2wd that you want to make 4x4 just to get around town in the winter or up your driveway, its a drive axle and in that realm it would be fine. I believe this axle is 69-75, 69 was the first year of the big hub on a ford, 75 was the last year of a closed knuckle

Wow long time since this thread has seen some light I ended up selling my axle to a guy doing a factory restore on his 72 I believe it was. Just before winter he came and got both my original axles out of my 71 so these axles are in demand trouble is not wanted enough I was lucky to find this guy as most just want to put upgraded axles in instead of the factory one for that year not sure if original poster still has his or not

Yes. I still have this axle. I'm still in Craryville N.Y. at (518) 325-7610. Come to think about it, Someone called back in January and left a message, my electronically challenged better half erased the message before I could write the number down. This may be your lucky day. I can load it. Dandy Dave!

Don't give up hope on selling it, I posted the Quote above last Feb on this thread and a few weeks later I sold mine to a older gentleman restoring a F250 4WD and his trucks front axle was in a nutshell "worn-out", mine was in great shape, I got $250 for it and was glad to get it, he was smiling like a kid in a candy store as he headed back home.

In fact, I am going to be headed to the West Coast about the second or third week of May. Any time after Mothers day, or shortly after to pick up a very rare 98 year old Buick parts car. I can drop it off anywhere along Rt. 80, I also have the Duel wheel Rear end in the yard. Let me know if there is interest. Dandy Dave!
