I am trying to replace a water pump on what I thought was a 460 in a 75 F-250. New water pump did not line up, doing a search with the casting numbers on the original pump (C8SE 8505-E) I found out the pump belongs to a 429 Boss. I know the 429 and 460 block are the same, but I have just bought a cam and headers for the same rig and don’t know if I should change anything or not. The only thing I know for sure about this motor is it’s not the original block for this truck. Are the Boss heads or block special, and what numbers am I looking for to see if it’s more than just the water pump that is a Boss? This one has kind of thrown me for a loop, any advice would be appreciated.
That number does show it was used on the Boss motor but came on many other applications. Have no idea why the holes don't line up. Do a Google and see all the coments about that part number.

If stock 429/460 valve covers fit your engine it isn't a Boss 429. Boss 429 heads (as well as the rest of the engine) are completely different from anything else and the heads are HUGE. They also have spark plug tubes running through the valve covers, and are almost a foot wide. Most 429/460's I've seen use C8 coded components, as 1968 was a pivotal year in the finalization of the design of that family of engines.
