Type in "2wd Bronco" on google. You'll see a few nice ones.

The only real benefit I see to a lightning bronco is maybe: aerodynamics, and alittle extra weight (from the top) over the rear tires for traction.

Also while we are on the subject, My friend has a bronco 2 2wd, when he got another truck, he lowered it, snatched out the 2.9 v6, and dropped in a mustang HO 5.0. and c6

Pics or it didn't happen.
I agree. You don't know how many folks on these boards have claimed to have this friend or that friend who bought stuff that I know does not exist. Show me the original window sticker specifying it as a Bronco 4x2 or I am not buying it.

Also, we're talking about a full sized bronco. I know they made 2wd Bronco II's.
Yeah if you are on here saying the word "Bronco" and you are really talking about the B2 then you really don't know how the wind blows around here.

ok, let me rephrase that then. in 1989, we picked up a full sized bronco from the dealer that was ordered with a transfer case and front drive axle delete option, that the original owner ordered directly from ford, and we watched it roll off the tractor trailer that delivered it to the ford dealer with 2 miles on the odometer, with two other full sized broncos that had transfer case and front drive axle delete option.

this argument goes along the same lines as the ones where ford never made a falcon with the 271 hp high performance mustang engine and 5 speed trans. or the fact that ford never made a falcon with the 427 DOHC engine.but you know what?? they are out there, and were ordered new, from the ford factory, made by ford as per the original owners specifications.

i also had a 69 mustang grande coupe, with a 351C 4 barrel engine, 4 speed trans, and 4 wheel disc brakes.
it was a ford executive order car. the last time i saw that car it was leaving the driveway in a car trailer on it's way to Albany NY 13 years ago.

Bronco is 500lb heavier? Doubt that. I can lift the top off by myself, and there's no bed bulkhead or back wall of the cab. The last 4wd bronco I crushed weighed 4100 complete.

And you sold it!?
You must have a picture of that one laying around....I hope!

As for the 2WD full sized Bronco's, I have seen a few myself both on the street and in the dealership I worked for in the 80's, and never really gave it much thought other than that would be something I wouldn't get. But, I haven't seen one for years, and never here in Montana.

Doncha think if all a dealer had to do was check the so-called "transfer case and front drive axle delete option" that there would be thousands (at least) of these factory 4x2 Broncos running around?

I can't imagine Ford offering this it would mess up the assembly line. Would they not have to change the GVWR, EPA rating and on and on just for a random 2wd bronco. Could very well be a Centurion or roll along conversion, my buddy's Dad bought a 2wd F150 crewcab in 93 or so new from Ford but it was a Centurion conversion.

how would it mess up the line? two wheel drive and 4 wheel drive trucks are made in the same plant on the same assembly line.
trucks were made on the same line with or without AC, with or without radio, and there were 3 different radios put in also.
single cab, stretch cab, and crew cab. bucket seats, bench seat. cab lights, no cab lights.power windows, non power windows. 3 different engines for the F-250, and 2 different axles for the 4wheel drive.
all made on the same assembly line

things were very different 20 years ago. you could order what you wanted, not this is what we are giving you take it or leave it.

They have to cut costs somehow with the unions and EPA bleeding them dry.

Come on. Ford sold about 5x 2wd Expeditions in '97 versus 4wd. We may not like it, but a 4x2 Bronco would have been VERY popular, especially in the mid-90s when the SUV craze was really starting to take off.

Was this dealer where the 4x2 Broncos were unloaded in the US?
