For those of you who park OUTSIDE in weather...
I have discovered a little something to help on these frosty mornings. See the pic below.
Alcohol wipes. All it takes is one for a generic light covering of frost on the windshield.
Without this (or a scraper with a long handle), I have to sit in the driveway for nearly 10 minutes to thaw the windshield enough to drive safely. With just one wipe, though, I can wipe down the entire windshield in about 2 minutes and be on my way. It also does a good job of cleaning the glass at the same time!
I've run alcohol in my widshield wiper tank before, but the alcohol tends to be bad for the gaskets and I end up with either a leaking tank or a pump that won't run. This avoids both of those problems.
Just thought I'd share.

Looks like some of them have metal ends on them. Will that not scratch the glass? There is sometimes a little frost on my windshield, but the wiper blades will knock that off. I have seen on TV people having to scrape ice and snow off their windshields before they can drive away. That's got to be a PITA. lol
I don't mind being left out of this ice on windshield thingy.

I keep my truck plugged in, so the defroster takes off the frost quick. Start the truck, turn defrost to high, then go unplug. By the time I unplug the cord and role it up the frost is mostly gone.
A trick for dealing with Ice and snow, be it a miserably one, is to turn off the heat and roll down the windows about 5 or 10 minutes before you park. That way snow don't melt when it hits the windshield and will just be powder when it comes time to clean it off.

I don't think they have metal ends, Rick. I know that I would not get one if they did.
Remember, Bob... my recommendation was to use alcohol BEFORE driving... not WHILE driving... and this is also the sort of alcohol that dannot be safely ingested.
Besides... I already have 6 kids... it wouldn't be that big of a deal to get a couple more (ahem... I am NOT taking donations on this last comment, though!! If I can't start from scratch on the effort... well, you understand what I mean!).

HMMM My ice scraper is to start truck..put on defrost then go back inside for coffee. Although....my wife feeds the horses in the morning so she usually starts it for me on her way to the barn.
Someday though I will find that remote starter unit that will lock and unlock my doors, start the truck, be programmable for diesel and timed starts for cold weather...and NOT include and fricken alarm!

For ice/snow removal I use a long scraper and push broom.
I also use the orange Rain-X -65* de icer for windshield fluid. Nothing (safely) beats the defroster though.
I'm just really happy this winter has been more like spring!

You bite your tongue.
Damn warm weather is making what should be some nice snow into rain.
As far as ice on the windshield just take any old ice scraper you want and stand on the rocker panel and lean against the door and you can reach any part of the windshield you want.
