I have a 73 short wide 4x4 W/4 speed trans . My question is , Did the short wide come in a factory lift ? Mine sits up like the long box factory lift , but when I look I can't see any after market componets . If this is factory , then it would be a pretty rare truck , wouldn't it ?
A highboy as we call it was never a half ton, always had divourced t-case, gas tank behind the seat, leaf springs in front. If it sits higher than a stock f150 4x4 something has been done to it by a previous owner.
Hey thanks for the info. Now I know. I plan too do alot of work to this thing. My buddy wants me to do a magor swap. He keeps trying to talk me into swapping boddies, putting my 73 onto a 96 Bronco chassis. running gear and all. I told him he was drunk haha. Isn't the wheel bases quite abit differant? Bronco being 104" and the short bed being 117". Am I right in these measurments?
As soon as I start my project I will post flicks. I did do a title search on this truck, and on closer inspection it does have larger coils up front. This is an F-100 with the 360 and 4 speed. It has an under bed mount fuel tank. So it is not a High Boy.
Find the axle code off the top my head I can not remember where but check round the pumpkin if I remember right. Also should be high pinion so the drive shaft will come out closer to the top of the housing
Well how lucky could I get? I went out into the rain and crawled around in the wet gravel the did an image search on the web, and it seems I am one lucky dude. If anyone els knows just where to look, please let me know. I will do it again just to make sure. Thanks...
