A dead give-away is a huge wiring harness mounted to the frame rail under the left side of the cab. Other items include emblems, bigger alternator, dual tanks, large tubular framed mirrors, etc.
Any idea where I can get those lights? Mine has the holes but I need the whole fixture and pigtails (they've been cut). I haven't seen them anywhere.
Russell, I've seen chrome marker lights at just about every auto parts store, but the original CS markers were'nt chrome. You might try a big rig supplier or trailer parts supplier. They seem to be pretty popular on these applications. Also, the junk yard wouldn't be a bad place to look too if you want true antiques.
Hi Russell, I think you're gonna have to take Jim's advice.
Here's a pic that looks almost identical to them except on the side where it says "2-95" and "Made In USA", it should just say "94". Found it at: taillightking.com/misc_lights_Amber.htm
Thanks for the info guys. The truck is not a camper special. It is a Ranger w/ 390 AT, PS, and does have disc brakes, no A/C.
I have a few few more questions about this truck:
What was the first year for the C-6? I see 67's had C-4's. If it is a C-4, how do they hold up to the 390? I want to use it to haul my race trailer and slide in camper.
Is Ranger trim rare or collectable?
What would be a ball park value. Calf. truck with no rust, very solid, mostly original. Decent, but not perfect, 10 year old repaint (orig color) , clean orig int.
First year of the C6 was '66 in the cars and '68 in the pickups. First year of the C4 was '64 in the cars and '69 in the pickups but never behind a FE. In '67 the only automatic for the pickups was the MX which is a heavy duty version of the FMX Cruise-O-Matic. Vans and Broncos did get the C4.
Where would the markings go on the truck to say it was a camper special? I've seen some on the cowl below the windshield. Mine has those Dietz marker lights, the tubular mirrors but came with absolutely no markins except for the Ranger emblem on the glove box door.
