ABS Problem
Perhaps this is a generic Ford Truck problems that others here have experienced. If not, my apologies.
I'm looking for an alternative brake specialist besides the Ford dealer. I just got through having them check my ABS (activates at slow speeds). When they did a system diagnostic, no codes showed up but the service tech said that "in his experience, the ABS sensors go bad and have to be replaced" $400 thank you.
I've got a 1995 Explorer 2 wheel drive and I'm looking for someone who can do ABS diagnostic and tell me if I have a component failure (which I doub- ABS works OK, it just activates at slow speeds), or perhaps there's something funny with the new rotors I installed.
I've doublecheck everything - cleaned sensors, reinstalled rotors - 3 times, even swapped out the new rotors for more expensive ones.
Can I take the sensors out easily? I can see a bolt on the little housing when the wire goes in but when I take the bolt out, I can't get the housing off and am a little shy about forcing it.
